TrapEd is tested for the transferproject-results fromVignette Storyserver-Releases 4.1 - V6.

Be sure to always have a backup of your Vignette-projects handy before importing attr-files that were modified with TrapEd, so that you are able to restore your projects.

Known bugs

The following list contains cases in which the "Bug alarm"-dialog pops up:
There are currently no known bugs for TrapEd (Version 2.4)

Furthermore there are some inconveniences in TrapEd, which are not considered as bugs.
But it is good to keep those nasty things in mind when working with TrapEd:

  • If you have pasted your license or changed the license in the license-dialog, you should close TrapEd and start it once again.
  • The compress-feature is reported to lead to attr-files which could not be imported into Vignette 4.2
If you want to import the modified attr-file again into Vignette you should avoid compression.
  • If you are working with the interactive Api, pasting code into the console is not always behaving correctly.
  • If you have used "external" editors inside the Vignette Project Manager and this editors uses "Windows"-Newlines (Carriage-return/Linefeed) these display as tiny rectangles in TrapEd.
    You can simply ignore them.

Reporting a bug

TrapEd is developed with a lot of care and testing, so that there should be no serious bugs. But as usual: Nobody is perfect
You really have found a bug, when you see a dialog with the title "Bug alarm". In this case you should email the text from this dialog to the contact-email (see footer) along with some information on how you produced this bug. Be sure to check the above section for already known bugs. If you have found an unknwon bug you will get a 30-days-license for free as a reward.

In all other cases (no "Bug alarm"-dialog) we are interested in the misbehaviour you found. This may be changed in the next release of TrapEd. So don't hesitate to tell us your ideas/wishes/improvements.

Acknowledgement

I'd like to thank Kai Wolfram for his suggestions and testing and Pourang Khadivi for designing the TrapEd-icon.
More thanks go to Gabriele Zech and Martin Ewald for a lot of support. And last but not least thanks for the most loyal user over the last years: Oliver Ballay.

Furthermore I say thank you to Dennis R. LaBelle for his nice tool freewrap and Dr. Csaba Nemethi for his very useful tablelist-widget (see copyright-notice below) and Jeffrey Hobbs for his tkcon.

Thanks to John Ousterhout for his famous scripting-language Tcl/Tk on which TrapEd was built and to the whole tcl-community which is a very helpful resource.

Many thanks to Patrick R. Michaud for providing PmWiki.
PmWiki convinced me at first sight, that it was the right system to build this site with.

And last but not least: many thanks to Avinci for letting me take part in so many Vignette-projects that I had to make my daily life with Vignette easier and therefore started to develop TrapEd.

And not to forget: thanks to Vignette for developing a "client" which is so inconvenient that I got the strong urge to develop TrapEd in the first place.
